A Music Break

It's been a little while since I've done any posts about the music I'm listening to.  There's a lot of good, peppy stuff out now that I'm loving.  And Buggy too.  She's picking up the words to a lot and we have a lot of fun some days singing and dancing on the way to or from school and work!  Check out some of my favs of the moment!

{Adele - Rumor Has It}

{Katy Perry - Wide Awake}
(i really like the fantasy from fairytale to something more dark in this video)

{Carly Jepsen - Call Me Maybe}
(how can you not laugh at the ending of this one!?)

{Carrie Underwood - Blown Away}

{Justin Bieber - Boyfriend}
(yes i like this song.  and yea i'll admit it.  i think he sounds like justin timberlake in this one)

Enjoy!!  Happy Thursday!

Antics and Schemantics!

Just when it seems like I’ve laughed as hard as I can at this kiddo she comes up with something else that has me rolling.  Like last night we were sitting down to eat and she looks at me and says “I need to go to the hospital, to get my hair cut.”  Just matter of fact like that’s how it is and how silly I am for not knowing that.   I can only imagine how she comes up with this stuff.  I had told her prior that she needed a haircut.  And we pass a hospital everyday on the way to school, so, maybe that’s it.

And then this morning when I dropped her off at school her teacher Miss Victoria stops me to inform me that she has been extra drama queen-ish this week and that she also now has several boyfriends in the class.  (I had honestly suspected this whole boyfriend thing already, most days when I drop her off 2 or 3 boys come running to the door to greet her.  What I didn’t know that apparently Little Miss Bug is running a hair salon out of classroom #7 at Wesleyan Christian Childcare.   She gets all the boys to line up (bossy much?) and then has them each take a turn while she ‘washes and styles’ their hair.  Then she tells the next one to sit down and continues down the line.  I’d love to watch this sometime.  I can only imagine.  :O)

On to some of the not-so-funny things she says.  (although I must admit it’s R.E.A.L.L.Y hard not to smile and laugh when she says them!)  Favorite phrase of the moment = ‘not right now.’  Example – I said 'Bug do you love Mommy?'  Her reply is ‘no, not right now.’  Or if I say we have to get in the car and head to school ‘not right now Mommy.’  If anyone tells her something that she doesn’t like or would rather not hear she replies with ‘no, don’t say that’ and a quick hand swat.  Example – I smelled the dreaded poopy pull up (good heavens when will this child just poop and pee on the toilet?!?!) smell and asked her if she had pooped.  She got an angry look on her face, swatted me away and said ‘Mommy, don’t say that!’  And lastly she has a new ploy she executes when she doesn’t want to do something or doesn’t like something someone said i.e. – ‘no you cannot eat a third pack of fruit snacks before dinner’ or ‘I cannot hold you right now,’ – she simply states whines ‘my *legs huuuuurt.’

*leg can be replaced with whichever body part fits the bill.

The funniest things EVER though are these 2 videos.  I posted these on Facebook back when they happened but couldn’t resist posting them again.  I mean, I can watch them over and over and my laughter does not subside in the least bit.  Maybe, just maybe, I have a future American Idol or actress on my hands.  (and yes I’d be totally ok with either one of those!)

Come on; tell me you didn’t laugh.out.loud after you watched them!!!

Happy Friday and Happy Father’s Day to all the daddy’s!

Lots of Visitors!

The past two weekends have been filled with visitors - last weekend my dad was here and this weekend my friend Jessica was here.  We had a blast both weekends and I wish the time on the weekends didn't fly by so quickly!

While my dad was here he helped move Buggy's new swing set into the backyard and some other small things around the house.  It was so nice having him here for the extra help - I wish he was closer!!  We were lucky to be able to buy the swing set from neighbors who were moving and not taking it with them.  It is a few years old but Bug loves it and it will grow with her as she gets older and more adventurous - although she's pretty adventurous now so I'm a little scared to see what she'll get into as she gets older!  Eeek!

This past weekend my wonderful friend Jessica and her family were here for a few days while on vacation.  I used to work with Jess at the police department but unfortunately (for me) she moved back home to Texas in 2008.  The last time I saw her was in January 2009 when we met them in Las Vegas for vacation.  That trip was so much fun and between now and then there has been 1 wedding (the Morrill's) and 3 babies born (Buggy Kiefer & Bryson & Harper Morrill).  I was so excited to finally meet her kids and was totally content to sit and watch them play with the Bug.  They hit it off right away and had so much fun.  Bug was very into little Harper (she's 8 months old) and I was able to get a nice baby fix in.  I'm telling you I could sit and rock a sweet little baby like Harper for hours at a time!

 {Bug absolutely loved Harper - as you can tell from all these pics - she called her 'her' & 'baby' a lot, and repeatedly asked to hold her!}

 {me & the girls *love*}

This week buggy and I are leaving on Thursday for another adventure - off to Ohio until next Monday for my sister's bridal showers!!  Bug is super excited to go on a 'trip with just mommy' and mommy is pretty excited too!!!

A Baby Shower

A little over 2 weeks ago I had a baby shower at the house for my dear friend and old neighbor, Shawna.  Shawna has always been such a sweetheart to me and I wanted her baby shower to be as remarkable as her!  As you all know I am in no way a domesticated hostess-with-the-mostest!  In fact I am just about the total opposite.  It became clear to me while getting ready for the shower just how un-domesticated I am!  This was the first event I had at my house where more than say, one person, would be attending.  I was definitely nervous.  I co-hosted the shower with Anna and had some serious help on ideas from Megan - thank heavens for them both!   The shower was s huge success!  The best part was Megan's idea for a 'paint the baby a onesie' craft in lieu of traditional baby shower games.  What a GREAT idea.  Everyone who attended decorated a personalized onesie for baby Moore #2.  I absolutely love this idea and will use it again for future baby showers (ahem, Meredith Bookwalter, soon to be Sitko!} I also feel confident to have other events at my house without feeling like I won't measure up to the 'domestic diva' status I have created in my head.*

 {did someone say food?!}

 {yes we certainly had some good food}

 {carrot cake at the request of the mom-to-be}

 {the guest of honor - Miss Shawna and little baby girl Moore}

 {adorable little onesies made with love by friends for the sweet new baby}

*I am coming to realize very recently through discussions with a close friend, of certain things I need to just 'let go' of.  Throughout discussions I've realized how silly some of the things I have created truly are.  Sometimes I let my mind go into overdrive, over-thinking, over-analyzing and therefore stressing out and making poor decisions.  Life doesn't have to be as hard as I have made it.  So in essence a self-inflicted 're-boot' has been done to my mind.

Princess Tea Party for Two - and the Mama's

A few weekends ago Buggy and I drove up to Virginia to spend the day with Sophia and Deondra.  We always have such a great time when we are together and this day was no exception.  We drove about an hour from where they live to the Blueridge Parkway for a princess tea party, picnic and some relaxing down time.  I had never been to the Parkway before and it is absolutely GORGEOUS!  It's times like these I wish I had a good camera instead of just the one on my phone to capture the beauty.  Here are a few pictures from the day - iPhone style!

{my favorite scenic pic of the day @  Mabry Mill- filter added with instagram}
