Duct Tape - Really?

This past weekend Emma and I made a trip up to Ohio for some family visiting.  I will post lots of pictures later but one I had to talk about now.  My soon-to-be brother-in-law (CONGRATULATIONS MEREDITH & TOMMY ON YOUR ENGAGEMENT!!!) and his antics. Anyways, Tommy came to meet us for lunch with duct tape all over his hands.  Well he had been packing boxes and had cut himself numerous times so duct tape was his form of bandage.  Duct tape!?!  Really??  Cracks me up!!!

Simple Smiles

Smiling is infectious, you catch it like the flu,
When someone smiled at me today I started smiling too.
I walked around the corner and someone saw me grin,
When he smiled I realized I had passed it on to him.
I thought about that smile and then realized its worth,
A single smile like mine could travel 'round the earth.
So if you feel a smile begin don't leave it undetected,
Lets start an epidemic and get the world infected!

Things making me smile right now...

Emma's Entourage

Emma does NOT travel lightly.  Way back prior to her arrival I got her a cute little stuffed bunny from IKEA (♥ Love!) to match her crib bedding.  Well since she has been old enough to understand, the bunny must go with her everywhere.  And most def when she goes to bed, even for a nap.  More recently she got her first baby doll, for her first birthday.  In the last few months this baby doll (who remains nameless and is only called by 'baby') has joined her must have list.  Bunny and baby must accompany her to sleep and also in the car.  She does do pretty good about leaving them in the car if we go into a place.  She'll leave them along with paci, which is also part of the entourage!  This morning I got her all ready for school and she was doing her "uh uh uh" noise towards her crib.  She already had paci, bunny and baby so I couldn't figure out what she wanted.  The only thing in her crib was her blanket.  So I grabbed that and asked if it was what she wanted.  She grabbed it and "wrapped" it around herself, with some assistance.  Then she was good to go.

So rather than wearing a jacket this morning she went to school wrapped in her blanket.  Once she got in the car she wanted to cover up with it, with paci in her mouth and bunny in her lap.  Baby is not visible in the following picture but have no fear - she is sitting beside Emma on the seat of the car!

Happy Tuesday Y'all!! :)

Mama's Day

Even though Emma is pushing 2 years old I sometimes still have a hard time believing I am a mama.  It just seems so unreal to look at her and think 'I made that!' She's so darn cute and I for the life of me don't know where she gets it.  Hard to imagine she is mine and I had something to do with her and the way she is!  Ok but reality is she IS mine and i AM a mama!  This year Mother's Day seemed more real - I picked up Emma from school on Friday and she had a hand-made Mother's Day gift for me.  Yes, I had to hold back tears.  I just LOVED it and can't stop looking at it!!  Her little hand prints are so dag-gone cute!

This weekend we are also house/dog sitting for our friends so Shawn has been spending most of the weekend at their house.  He keeps apologizing however it has worked out really well.  Emma is a HUGE Daddy's girl but if he is not around we get have an amazing time.  Which we have this whole weekend.  ANNNNND I was even blessed with getting to rock her while she slept yesterday - mind you this has not happened much since she was teeny tiny and had no choice where she slept!  So needless to say this has been a wonderful Mama's Day.  This last pic is really all I need - I could have sat here all weekend with her, and probably longer!

Last but certainly not least I must give a shout out to my Mama!!  Happy Mother's Day Mom - I LOVE YOU!!  and Happy Mama's Day to all the other mom's in my life!

It's the Simple Things...

That make me happy.  Like this absolutely adorable golf set I picked up for Emma this past weekend.  Only $5 at Walmart AND the best part IT'S MADE IN THE USA!!  Now really how often can you say that about anything!?  So super cute and made right here - this is a DEAL if I ever found one!

Another simple thing which brings endless happiness - BUBBLES!  Who doesn't love bubbles?  I realized last night as I was watching Emma and our neighbor's daughter Alexandria as they chased after bubbles in the yard with endless amazement and giggles.  And as a mama on a strict budget, bubbles also are easy to come by!  I was too quick to get my camera and capture the actual bubble chasing but I took a few of Emma afterwards as she tried to blow bubbles by herself.  These pictures are before she spilled all the bubbles in the driveway! :)
